French guitarist Cedric Vassal has unleashed a relentless storm of heavy and power metal with a touch of death metal, accompanied by breathtaking shredding, in his latest instrumental EP, “Inner Kingdom.” Comprising five tracks that traverse the realms of metal virtuosity, this release is a testament to Vassal’s technical prowess and his ability to craft a dynamic sonic landscape.

The EP kicks off with “Awakening,” a short yet impactful piece that serves as an introduction to the intense journey ahead. Vassal wastes no time in setting the tone, showcasing his adept fingerwork and establishing the EP’s overall atmosphere.

“Order In Chaos” follows, living up to its title by weaving intricate melodies within a controlled chaos of heavy riffs. The composition flawlessly blends heavy metal elements with a death metal edge. “Endless” is a testament to Vassal’s ability to craft emotionally charged compositions. Clocking in at just over three minutes, the track is a whirlwind of emotions, with the guitarist seamlessly transitioning between aggressive and melodic passages.

The EP takes an unexpected turn with “Superheroes,” a track that incorporates a cinematic quality, reminiscent of epic soundtracks. The collaboration with drummer Kevin Paradis (Benighted) and bassist Jean-Baptiste Frichet (Veil of Mist) adds depth to the composition, creating a sonic spectacle that unfolds with grandeur.

Closing the EP is “Eye Of The Storm,” a nearly six-minute sonic journey that encapsulates the EP’s thematic core. Vassal’s guitar work shines brightly, reaching new heights of technical brilliance, while Paradis and Frichet provide a solid foundation that propels the song forward with unrelenting energy.

“Inner Kingdom” is a masterclass in instrumental metal, showcasing Vassal’s ability to seamlessly blend genres and create a cohesive piece of work. The EP’s production is stellar, allowing each instrument to shine individually while contributing to the collective force of the compositions.

In conclusion, Cedric Vassal‘s “Inner Kingdom” is a must-listen for fans of heavy, power, and death metal alike. With this EP, Vassal has firmly established himself as a name to look after.
