Deeply rooted in the northern darkness and crippling despair, the third record by the band THY KINGDOM WILL BURN, entitled to suggest the same mere thing, The Loss And Redemption, is reminiscent of forces of the dark and the extremes of self-dissolving emotions.
Battling between glimpses of hope and overpowering gloom, the album gives way, across its ten tracks, to a much more pungent approach to the classic Finnish melodic death.
“Perpetual Void” starts off with its heavy-heartedness and extreme juggling between eerie melodies and pleadings. The willingness to succumb to internal landscapes and escape the modern trap is highly encapsulated on tracks such as “Obscure Existence” or “Escape from Solitude”, whilst fascinatingly drafting the image of wild nature landscapes conquering the darkly tainted slave souls of the mundane.
The alertness of blasting beats, and riff-driven tracks, such as “Suffering Sky” or “The Have Come”, remind us of other legends of the genre such as Dark Tranquility, while the momentary interlockings of the doomsday keyboards announce the end of it all, such as the “To The End Of Times” so conveys to its listener.
“Sydänyö” reaches into the nordic realms past midnight, while the record closes out with a ballad that does not fail to break any language barriers and ensue a bottomless melancholy.
The Loss And Redemption paints a balanced picture of fathomless torments, epic soundscapes and vibrant displays of strength, in a complete dichotomy between what it whispers to its listener lyrically.
The Loss And Redemption will be out on the 17th of January through Scarlet Records. Follow the band on Facebook.
