Nashville, TN — Gentry Blue, a classic/progressive rock trio from Nashville known for their captivating live performances and innovative sound, is set to release their debut album Fragments on September 6. The band, celebrated for blending progressive and psychedelic rock with pop hooks, continues to push the boundaries of genre with their intelligent and evocative songwriting.
Led by electric violinist and vocalist Lydia Gentry-DeBonis, the trio includes multi-instrumentalists Brendan Gentry-DeBonis and Sean Jannay, whose instrumental versatility adds to the group’s distinctive sound. Influenced by legends like Rush, Jefferson Airplane, and Fleetwood Mac, Gentry Blue’s music offers an intricate blend of violin gothic rock with the theatrics of modern icons like Muse and Ghost.
Fragments* embarks on a profound journey through emotional and cosmic themes. The album, co-written by all three members, is produced by Sean Jannay and mastered by Colby Gustafson, resulting in a sonically rich and compositionally excellent record.
Commented Sean Jannay: “We learned a lot while making Fragments – not only about the actual craft of making an album, but about who we are as a band. Some of the songs on the record are very old, written by Lydia and Brendan several lineup-changes ago, while a few were actually written during this album’s recording process. In that way, it’s an excellent illustration of how much this band has grown in the last few years: you can see the evolution of our songwriting, presented with our current level of production. But more than that, it’s just a good, solid rock record. I’m proud of it, and I think people are really going to connect with it.”
Gentry Blue made an early mark with their 2022 single “Tell Them I’m Insane,” produced by Grammy-winner Mitch Dane. Now, with Fragments, the band is poised to make an even bigger impact, solidifying their status as one of Tennessee’s premier progressive rock acts.
On excitement of releasing the debut album and connecting with fans, Lydia Gentry-DeBonis said: “We’ve been together as a band since early 2019 and lots of things held us up like the pandemic, lineup changes, all of us finishing college, plus myself and Brendan getting married! I’ve been waiting years to release an album as Gentry Blue and I’m so excited that it’s finally happening; I’m incredibly proud of us and how far we’ve grown since we started. I’m a big fan of albums that are tied together by a cohesive theme, and that’s what we’re going for. All of these songs are strung together by the idea of space, outside and inside of us: black holes, relationships, loneliness, betrayal, mental health issues, galaxies, and overcoming perceived expectations.
