Edenya, the French atmospheric/progressive/folk rock duo, has graced the music scene with their highly anticipated second album, “Another Place.” Founded in 2010 by Marco, a multi-talented songwriter, and Clélia Lenoble, a vocalist with a voice that seamlessly blends softness and power, the band has been on a continuous journey of musical evolution.

“Another Place,” released on January 13, 2023, stands as a testament to Edenya‘s commitment to pushing the boundaries of their sound. Building upon the success of their EP in 2017 and their acclaimed debut album “Silence” in 2020, the duo takes their listeners on a captivating journey through diverse musical landscapes.

The album opens with “Impossible Meeting,” a brief yet enchanting piece that sets the stage for the sonic adventure ahead. Transitioning into “Somewhere In My Dreams,” the listener is immediately immersed in Clélia’s mesmerizing vocals and Marco’s instrumental work. The interplay between the two artists creates a dynamic atmosphere, blending progressive elements with folk undertones.

Throughout the album, Edenya showcases their versatility and ability to craft compositions that vary in intensity and emotion. Tracks like “The Tree” and “Garden” are concise and delicately woven, providing moments of serenity, while longer pieces like “Inside Your Walls” and “Another Place” showcase the duo’s prowess in constructing more complex and alluring musical landscapes.

Clélia’s vocals continue to be a highlight, offering a unique and emotive quality that resonates with the atmospheric and folk-rock elements of the music. The ethereal quality of her voice enhances the introspective and dreamlike nature of the lyrics, drawing the listener into the emotional core of each song.

The instrumental prowess of Marco is evident throughout the album, as he seamlessly navigates between guitars, keyboards, piano, and programming. His melodies, whether energetic or delicate, contribute significantly to the album’s overall depth and richness.

The track “The Shelter” is a standout moment (also a part of “Progstravaganza: Harmony in Complexity” compilation), with its haunting melodies and evocative lyrics creating a powerful experience. “The Other Side” and “Let Me Go” further showcase the duo’s ability to blend progressive and folk elements, creating a captivating sonic tapestry.

“Another Place” solidifies Edenya‘s position as a force in the French progressive/folk rock scene. The album’s seamless fusion of genres, coupled with Clélia’s enchanting vocals and Marco’s instrumental prowess, creates a musical experience that is both introspective and exhilarating. Edenya’s ability to evoke intense emotions and atmospheres makes “Another Place” a compelling addition to their discography, leaving listeners eagerly anticipating the next chapter in their musical journey.

Stream the album on Bandcamp, and follow Edenya on Facebook and Instagram.
