Montreal and Stockholm-based progressive death metal band Voidchaser is set to unleash their debut album, Solace, on September 6th, 2024. Formed in 2023, Voidchaser has quickly risen through the ranks of the progressive death metal scene, following the success of their debut EP Odyssey earlier this year. Known for their intricate compositions, genre-blending influences, and powerful live performances, Voidchaser continues to push the boundaries of modern metal.

Solace is a concept album designed as a single, continuous piece of music, divided into distinct movements that showcase Voidchaser’s wide-ranging creative abilities. The album weaves together progressive death metal’s intensity with melodic, theatrical elements, a balance the band has mastered. Voidchaser draws inspiration from iconic acts like Opeth, Dream Theater, and Between the Buried and Me, resulting in a sound that is both technically precise and emotionally impactful.

Two standout tracks from Solace highlight the band’s ability to blend diverse styles within the album’s overarching themes. “Solace Part II: Only Human,” (stream on Bandcamp) featuring guest performances by Ashbreather, is an explosive track with hard-hitting riffs and introspective lyrics about survival and resilience. In contrast, “Solace Part IV: Alien” (Bandcamp stream) shifts the tone with a haunting acoustic ballad, exploring the emotional complexity of a toxic relationship. These contrasting yet connected pieces showcase Voidchaser’s versatility and their ability to create music that resonates deeply with listeners.

Voidchaser’s Chad Bernatchez (vocals, guitar) commented: “Solace is a huge labor of love, and is the most ambitious thing we have done yet. It has made us a stronger unit and has pushed us to a new place creatively. We gave everything we had to this record and hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed making it.”

Since the release of Odyssey, Voidchaser has continued to gain momentum, with their tracks “Tyrant,” “Star-Crossed Lovers,” and “Valkyrie” collectively reaching nearly 60,000 streams on Spotify. The remixed version of “Tyrant” has received critical acclaim, solidifying Voidchaser’s reputation as a rising force in the progressive death metal scene. The band has also made their mark on the stage with tours like the Ashes of the Void Tour alongside Ashbreather and The Aphelion, and their upcoming Terra Corp Presents: The Only Human Tour, where they will share the stage with The Anchoret, Universe Effects, Last Dance Among Wolves, and many other exceptional local bands.

Reflecting on the band’s journey since their inception, Jici LG said: “Since we released the Odyssey EP, Voidchaser has felt like an unstoppable force. Every release has just added more fuel to this insane ride we are on. We had some ups and downs since we have started but Voidchaser has no intentions of stopping any time soon.”

    Solace Track Listing:

    1. Solace Part I: Impetus

    2. Solace Part II: Only Human (feat. Ashbreather)

    3. Solace Part III: Give In

    4. Solace Part IV: Alien

    5. Solace Part V: Out of Here

    6. Solace Part VI: Goodbye (feat. The Aphelion)

Voidchaser’s Solace is set to leave a lasting impression on the progressive metal landscape. Their commitment to crafting music that is both challenging and deeply relatable has made them a band to watch in 2024 and beyond.
