Accauno‘s latest full-length album, “Punto di Fuga,” stands as a testament to the band’s unwavering commitment to the rich legacy of Italian progressive rock, offering a captivating journey through an intricate soundscape of visionary compositions. Released in 2021, this album reaffirms Accauno’s place in the realm of Rock Progressivo Italiano.

The trio, comprised of Andrea Tosini (lead vocal, electric guitar, sequencer programming), Mattia Paneroni (voice, electric bass guitar), and Giuseppe Pianese (voice, drum, percussions), brings a dynamic blend of talent to the table. “Punto di Fuga” is Accauno’s fourth studio album, showcasing their evolution as musicians and composers since their formation in 2015 in Milan.

The album kicks off with the expansive “Prospettiva Accidentale,” a 10-minute sonic journey that immediately immerses the listener in Accauno‘s world. Andrea Tosini‘s lead vocals and electric guitar work, coupled with Mattia Paneroni‘s groovy bass lines and Giuseppe Pianese‘s intricate drumming, create a mesmerizing fusion of styles reminiscent of classic Italian progressive rock.

The title track, “Punto di Fuga,” and “Trecuori” continue the voyage with complex arrangements and lyrical depth. Sung entirely in Italian, the lyrics evoke a sense of nostalgia and introspection, reminiscent of the poetic storytelling found in the works of legendary Italian prog bands. Accauno seamlessly weaves together formalism and eclecticism, paying homage to the genre’s roots while pushing musical boundaries.

Throughout the album, tracks like “Adattabili” and “Sinapsi” showcase Accauno‘s ability to seamlessly shift between different moods and time signatures. The synergy between the musicians is visible, creating a dynamic and immersive listening experience. The inclusion of shorter pieces like “Ombra” and “Sospensione Infinita” adds diversity to the album, demonstrating the band’s versatility.

The ghost tracks at the end of the album serve as a playful nod to the tradition of hidden tracks, adding an extra layer of intrigue for attentive listeners.

“Punto di Fuga” is a triumph for Accauno, solidifying their standing in the world of Italian progressive rock. With its visionary lyrics, masterful instrumentation, and nods to the classics of the genre, this album is a must-listen for both seasoned prog enthusiasts and those new to the genre. Accauno‘s ability to navigate the realms of formalism and eclecticism sets them apart, making “Punto di Fuga” a captivating and timeless addition to the legacy of Rock Progressivo Italiano.
