DAVID GILMOUR: New Solo Album Scheduled for 2015

David Gilmour

We all know by now that Pink Floyd is set to release their final studio album entitled The Endless River on November 10th. The recent news are that the Floyd frontman, David Gilmour will put out a new solo album in 2015, some nine years after the release of On an Island.

In an interview with Rolling Stone discussing the new Floyd record, Gilmour revealed that his follow-up to 2006’s On An Island should be ready for release in 2015. ”It’s coming along very well,” he told. “There are some sketches that aren’t finished, and some of them will be started again. There’s a few months’ work in it yet. I’m hoping to get it out this following year.” He also hopes to embark on what he called “an old man’s tour,” what by his own words is “not a 200-date sort of thing.

He also commented that a tour in support of The Endless River was unlikely, considering that much of the record features keyboardist Rick Wright, who passed way of cancer in 2008. “Without him, that’s kind of impossible,” Gilmour said, adding, “I’m really enjoying my life and my music. There’s no room for Pink Floyd. The thought of doing any more causes me to break out in a cold sweat.”

On possible reunion with Roger Waters, Gilmour commented: “I wouldn’t rule anything out, but the likelihood of it being anything more than one little charity show is very, very remote.

I’m really excited about this new David Gilmour album. I have been reading that Ben Watt said David’s demos are amazing and unlike anything he has ever heard before. I also read it’s going to be completely different from Daves last album On an Island, which I really enjoyed and still do but it’s always good to hear that a artist is changing paths. It looks like he is using a long list of top notch musicians including Pink Floyd members Nick Mason, and deceased Rick Wright, as well as Crosby and Nash, Phil Manzanera and others. This album can’t be released fast enough for me I’m ready to pre order it now! Also I should mention the source I get all of my info from http://www.davidgilmourtour.com because I would not even have known any of what I just wrote without it. Bring on the album! And the tour! I will be there!
