ProgSphere’s AwesomeCast: Episode 16 – Spinning the Wheels of Time with Christian Peters of Samsara Blues Experiment

Christian Peters is one of the coolest dudes on the underground rock scene currently. Having released two excellent albums under the belt of Samsara Blues Experiment and being a music nerd for more than 15 years, this Berliner was my first choice when I decided to do a curated awesomecast. I am pretty sure you will get some interesting finds from this one, and I have to admit that I was really pleasantly surprised to see YU Grupa among the chosen ones. The awesomecast is available both as a stream via MixCloud and download, so you choose what you prefer more. Enjoy!

For some among you the following selection may not fit the term “progressive” very well. This may be hard to compare with today´s standards of the genre, maybe not matchable with your own standards or ideas. To be frank, I don´t care much about any standards. I often feel more attracted by the song itself. May it be quite simple or rather complex, it´s more the general feeling what matters for me and yes this is often a personal affair.

There will always be some kind of mystery going on between your stereo speakers, your ears and your mind. Naturally there will be few people who dig the every song in this collection as much as i do, but then always remind yourself that this is just an invitation to discover some new music. Needless to say, but all of these bands offer much more than one song could tell.

Now let us spin back the wheels of time to the late 60s and early 70s, to what was, as some would say, the best time for rock music. even if I listen to much more than that, this is the sound that I dig the most and after more than fifteen years as a “music nerd” I can still listen to any Led Zeppelin record with the same or even more pleasure than in my adolescent years. I could not say this about many of the younger bands and I went through almost all genres of rock and heavy music.

So this be who i am and i hope you will enjoy my digital mixtape, because it´s all for you.
