Exactly that. I was clicking furiously with the hope to find him at least in the top 5. https://youtu.be/FsBQ1v_CeFg?t=2m20s
His high notes are very well balanced and melodic. I wish i could sing 10% like him
Russ Allen is definitely number one in that category – I believe “The” best singer in all metal, the strength, the range, he holds a tune on his own. A true master
Absolutely love this band and this guy. This album (their latest) is a masterpiece – just listen to it over and over.
Too bad the video you’ve posted is one in which in vocals a masked behind some effects.
So happy to have these guys return after ten years of absence.
Jim Matheos should never stop putting out new material – he’s awsome. Also nice to see him collaborating with Ray again – Pioneers of the genre
James LaBrie not included? Singer in one of the most famous progressive metal bands of all times (Dream Theater)? Good list but come on, he is a great singer, I believe he should have been included.
No matter what he has turned out to be in these days, in his prime Geoff Tate was the best Prog Metal vocalist there ever was and did with his voice what no prog metal singer has ever done. He definitely deserves the number 1 spot here.

How in the world is Michael Eriksen of Circus Maximus not at the top of this list? He can sing circles around any of these guys.
