So, we are rounding it up with bass players, which are probably the most underrated part of a band. We made a selection of top 20 bass players in progressive metal and its related subgenres that we think are absolute top-notch. Check it out and leave a comment below with some other great bass players that are worth checking out.
Sean Malone (Cynic, Gordian Knot)
John Myung (Dream Theater)
Dan Briggs (Between the Buried and Me, Trioscapes)
Steve DiGiorgio (Death, Sadus, Control Denied,…)
Jeroen Paul Thesseling (solo, Obscura, Pestilence)
Anyone else just looking at John Myung thinking thats Emperor Palpatine?

Mariusz Duda seems to be a glaring omission IMO

I would add Pete Perez from Spastic Ink, Doug Keyser from Watchtower, Tony Choy from Pestilence/Atheist and Roger Patterson from Atheist and Lars K Norberg from Spiral Architect off the top of my head.
I’d say Andreas Blomqvist from Seventh Wonder should really be here. You’ve had their vocalist and keys player, and Blomqvist is the guy who really makes the band stand out!

Great list! Found a few new names on here. Amos Williams from Tesseract would be great addition as well!

Amos is definitely someone to add to this list. He incorporates various genres into one to create his own flare. I’m a big fan of Mos’ work.

Sean is a great musician, but for the style in question, Mr. Myung is the major contributer.
