SHERINIAN Poking RUDESS: “I Didn’t Bring my iPad, I Wanted to Keep It Old-School”

Derek Sherinian

Former Dream Theater keyboardist Derek Sherinian – who now plays in Sons of Apollo with Mike Portnoy – apparently took a bit of a jab at current Dream Theater keyboardist Jordan Rudess and his “cheesy-ass gadgets.”

As you may or may not know, Jordan started a software company called Wizdom Music back in 2010, and generally uses different types of apps and non-traditional modern devices during live shows.

Anyhow, in a new Sons of Apollo behind-the-scenes clip (see below), Derek said:

You know, I didn’t bring my iPad, my keytar, my apps or cheesy-ass gadgets, I just wanted to keep it real and old-school, and make it rock.

Asked by Portnoy on what he’s up to, Derek replied:

Continuing to make more history. New history, bigger history. This is the time. 20 years from ‘Falling Into Infinity.’

Sons of Apollo are set to release their debut album Psychotic Symphony on October 20 via InsideOut Music, you can check out the “Coming Home” single below.
