With a year of so many great new releases and live performances, there are many amazing guitar players that provided astonishing performances both in studio and live.
Prog Sphere made a selection of 20 guitarists that put out some incredible performances throughout the year, but there is also an option to cast a vote for a guitar player that is not on the list, but you think that should be there. Make your choice and vote for the best guitarist of 2014.

How did Tim Henson make the list, but Mario Camarena didn’t?

From the same reason that you cannot put every guitarist on the list. That’s why there is the “Other” option, where you can vote for Mario Camarena, John McLaughlin, etc.

Don’t worry, I don’t see that smug little twat with the dumbo ears winning anyway.

Could have added “Steven Wilson” to Guthrie’s main credit, since in the last years he’s been more associated to Steven Wilson than The Aristocrats.

So what band does this ‘other’ play for?
Andrews
January 6, 2015 at 12:51 am
Other will be the conglomeration of every player who wasn’t specifically named, so it stands to reason it would be high.

kinda amusing not to see no Steve in the list! I have two for you: Rothery and Hackett, and there’s also Bjorn Riis from airbag. God there are lots of them and you’ve included some not that unbeliavably great guitarists in your list. Gédéric Byar from Lazuli. a lot more. pfffffff

I’m probably one of Guthrie’s greatest fans, but in 2014 I discovered a great player that had just released an album. The player is Nick Johnston, and the album “Atomic Mind”. It really blew my mind, so for me, he’s my 2014 player of the year.
