“We thought that it would be great to come up with another Progstravaganza special sampler while waiting for the new regular compilation to be released in February 2014,” says Prog Sphere‘s editor-in-chief. Prog Sphere teamed up once again with MoonJune Records to release Progstravaganza XVI: The Moon’s Sphere. A sampler that showcases some of the artists off the NYC label’s roster.
The songs included on the compilation are taken mostly from the albums released in 2012 and 2013, but there are also songs taken from the 2011′s and 2014′s releases. MoonJune Records is definitely one of the most complete labels out there at the moment, with plenty of talented and creative artists, exploring the vast and unknown of different progressive genres. The label’s founder Leonardo Pavković is a great connoisseur of music. He has been in the business for many years now, discovering and supporting artists from all over the world.
Asked about his vision with MoonJune Records, Leonardo said:
“The focus of MoonJune is to discover and release music by artists from a variety of international settings — exploring the expanding boundaries of genuine, challenging, “non-over-produced music” that cannot be easily categorized into any specific format or genre.
The ongoing goal of MoonJune is to support music that transcends stylistic pigeon-holing, but operates within an evolutionary progressive musical continuum that places jazz at one end and rock at the other. The ever-expanding boundaries of these two musical categories have since come to include everything from progressive rock to ethno-jazz, from experimental avante-garde to jazz-rock, and anything in between.”
Along with The Moon’s Sphere release, Prog Sphere is taking submissions for the 17th Progstravaganza sampler. Interested artist can send their music submissions to firstname.lastname@example.org. Download/stream Progstravaganza XVI: The Moon’s Sphere sampler below.
