KATATONIA: “Dethroned And Uncrowned” Out On September 9th

Swedish band Katatonia have revisited their ninth album Dead End Kings, re-mixing and re-recording it in parts to emphasise its progressive nature.

The new version, Dethroned And Uncrowned, will be released on September 9 through the artist fundraising site Pledge Music, and in partnership with Kscope, sister label to the band’s own, Peaceville.

Back in March, guitarist and founding member Anders Nyström told Prog that while mixing the original album last year they accidentally muted tracks and “It dawned on us how beautiful some parts sounded when given more space”.

Dethroned And Uncrowned features the same songlist as its predecessor, but the band have stripped back the heavier elements, replacing them in parts with new keyboard and acoustic guitar tracks.

The album can be pre-ordered through the Kscope online store, Burning Shed.

As reported previously, the band will be touring with Paradise Lost in October.
