Carpenter Brut debut new track, “Night Stalker,” as the first North American headline tour looms; listen to it below.
The song comes from the soundtrack to the “Rise of the Synths” documentary, with the single available for purchase today via https://lakeshorerecords.bandcamp.com/.
Carpenter Brut launch their first North American headline tour next Wednesday in Boston. The 15-day outing finds the project, which grows to a trio in live settings, with dates at New York’s Schimanski and Los Angeles’ Union, along with a stop at SXSW. Tickets are on-sale now.
Carpenter Brut draws his influences from ‘80s television shows and synthesizer laden B-movies. A trio of EPs released from 2012 to 2015 culminated in the full-length album Trilogy, which was released overseas in 2015 without a proper North American release. France’s Liberation newspaper said of Carpenter Brut’s music, “Doped to the aggressiveness of metal and often propelled by the same type of electro-disco rhythms inherited from the Italian Giorgio Moroder that likes Justice and Daft Punk, this is fuzzy synthmusic.”
“I like the concept of bands like Ghost or Daft Punk. If anonymity is well kept, it makes the concept strong,” explained Carpenter Brut in an interview with Diabolique Magazine, he also discussed the approach go live performances. “We are three people on stage. There is a drummer, a guitarist and I’m on keyboards. We have a visual background of cool and cheesy old school movies.”
Last year, Carpenter Brut released the “Turbo Killer” video, leading Bloody Disgusting to say: “The video is basically the coolest grindhouse sci-fi/horror car chase I can remember seeing and it’s enhanced by the incredibly high production value.”
