Two Releases Worth Checking Out

Y’all probably know the feeling when you discover some new name which ultimately knocks you down and becomes an object of worshiping for days and days. That is what basically happened when I discovered these two releases (shown below) during one of my recent Bandcamp explorations.

First one comes from a New York based jazz/prog fusion instrumentalists Father Figure. An album called Congratulations On Your Loss is an experimental endeavor within the chains of progressive rock and jazz fusion, meaning that it often trespasses beyond the aforementioned genres. Great stuff!

Other than that, we have another instrumental group leaning more towards heavy progressive side. Hailing from Canada, Surgeon combines epic guitar wizardry with a rock solid rhythm section, taking the listener through a moody, multi-layered groove-fest that is often aggressive and always fun. Now if that doesn’t mean something to you, look below and hit the play button, so you may possibly like what you hear. I certainly do.
