The Firstborn – Lions Among Men

A sonic voyage of abandonment and detachment from the material world. Dense, introspective, ritualistic and hypnotic at times, «Lions Among Men» is challenging music for the thoughtful, attentive listener. That pretty much sums up the third full-length release of Lisbon based metallers The Firstborn.

Being extreme and meditative in the same time, Lions Among Men is in an attempt to unify two quite contradictory elements, one could say. But they do it, this album is lurking in the shadows, supposed to thwart the plans to many of the similar genre orientation. And gotta say, that sitar sounds freaking amazing!

This album is stellar, and it is a vast improvement in composition over their prior efforts. It would be nice to get this on vinyl.
