I’ve been thinking a lot about the way how to describe what Gladiator‘s Circular Reasoning is and after quite some time the first three associations that pop up into my mind would be Exivious, Scale the Summit and Cloudkicker. Seriously though, this Clearwater, Florida’s quartet borrows the initial structure(s) from the aforementioned bands, but there is still enough space to add so many of new and different on the already paved path. This album is one of those how prog metal should/will sound in future. First of all, this is a completely instrumental recording and that’s a plus, just because the guys have enough to say without using any words in an already crowded lyrical aspect of the subgenre. Heavy riffs combined with jazzish complexity completed by classic prog melodiousness and from time to time a bit of mathematics classify Gladiator’s Circular Reasoning in one of the highest ranked albums of the genre, patiently lurking from the background to take over the throne. We cast our crowns before Thee!
