Ever wondered how progressive rock and electronica (actually EBM) would sound like? Now you have an opportunity to hear an album that mixes these two in a pretty cool entity. That means, you can dance with the prog sounds.
Now, on a serious note - Gumshen is a Seattle band made up of Ron Hippe (also with Caspar Babypants – with Chris Ballew of The Presidents); Jan Ciganik, Dennis McCoy, and an audio engineer Rich Hinklin, formerly of Reciprocal Recordings (working with Jack Endino, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Gits…).
Described as a musical anomaly, truly merging elements of prog rock with modern indie, rock and electronica, Gumshen’s musical exploration is fueled by the love of artistic freedom. The album titled Progtronica is set to be released on February 11th.

Inspiration is all the music that’s out there these days, wide variety. From great musicianship of Radiohead to simplicity of pop music like Phoenix, Franz Ferdinand to huge sounds of dub step. All new digital technology we recently introduced ourselves to – endless possibilities of soft synths (namely ZETA software), and how we could liven up earthy songs about weighty human emotions with modern beats. But also you can hear of our original inspirations like Pink Floyd and early Genesis. I think Progtronica is a suitable description…
